The mastery of people who have created hundreds of recipes usually remains anonymous or, like a memory, is kept in the name of a folder. Very fine strudels! But isn’t that the case with names from our ancient recipe notebooks?
- Lightly fry the bread crumbs in butter. Peel and grate the apples, add cinnamon, rum, sugar, vanilla sugar and plum jam and mix everything lightly.
- Sprinkle a sheet of dough with melted butter, place another sheet, coat with a quarter of the toasted crumbs and spread a quarter of the apple mixture. Sprinkle with a portion of ground walnuts and fold into a strudel. Prepare the other three strudels in the same way.
- Arrange them in a greased mold, coat with a little butter if desired and bake in an oven preheated to 200 ° C for about 30 minutes.
Slice the baked strudels and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
You can change the taste of the strudel by choosing jam, so it will always be prepared in a new way.
